Big wave surfing is a sport that has recently exploded in popularity recently and is a sport that has developed faster than any other sport in a given time frame. This is partly down to new technology and also the men and women who challenge riding these monsters. On this podcast, we will chat with some of the best big wave surfers in the world and delve deeply into what physical and mental aspects make these athletes so special. We will also talk with fellow team members that make this sport possible, such as jet ski drivers, safety crew ..etc. “Warning” - this is a dangerous sport - listen, learn and enjoy !
Host - Ian Simpson - Bio
Ian Simpson is a surfer and high performance coach in both surfing and rugby. Ian was coach to the British Surfing Team at the World Contest. He also coached rugby at Premier Division level in Wales and as a Physical Education teacher received a “Winston Churchill Fellowship” for his research into elite coaching methods in surfing and rugby, carried out in Australia, UK and Japan.
