What it’s about: Democracy. Global politics, and the place of Asia/the Global South in the politics of the future. Political rhetoric. Concept: to create a dictionary of global political thought, a rigorous recuperation of the words and concepts we need to be able to grasp this suicidal moment in global politics, and in human affairs as such. Format: a podcast of 26 episodes. Structure: Mutant takes as its starting point the 26 letters of the Roman alphabet; each episode constructed around two words (or occasionally, just one) beginning with the same letter, thus constituting almost 52 words in all. Between them, concepts and words covered in each episode move in tandem with those in others, creating an inventory of words that together express the power and fragility of the democratic promise. Events, moments, episodes, key figures who have inflected this trajectory are interwoven through the episodes. The thinker: intellectual historian and political theorist Aishwary Kumar. The interlocutor: journalist and editor Payal Puri -
