BARRY REYNOLDS, known for his songwriting and rhythm guitar work with Marianne Faithfull, Grace Jones, Baaba Maal, Joe Cocker, Black Uhuru and so many more, was also an integral part of the legendary Compass Point Allstars, the group of top international session musicians assembled by Chris Blackwell at his Nassau-based studio in the ’70s and ‘80s, along with Sly & Robbie, Mikey Chung, Wally Badarou and Uzziah “Sticky” Thompson, among others.
Throughout this in-depth series of interviews with music journalist/DJ musicologist GREG CAZ, Barry reveals his fascinating story from Lancashire to London, Nassau to NYC. A great raconteur and gentleman, Barry talks about growing up fast as a talented guitar playing young teenager in and around the blues scene in London and the early Beatles era in Hamburg, to creating Broken English with Marianne Faithful and being an important element of the unique hybrid sound at Compass Point Studios. Barry continues to produce, write, record and perform with new and veteran artists around the world, including Jones and Faithfull, Brazilian Girls, Baaba Maal and NYC performance artist/musician Tammy Faye Starlight.
