With a population of 1.9 billion Muslims around the world, including 500+ thousand who live in Australia, it's astonishing to think as an Australian, before I began travelling the world as a 20 something backpacker, I'd never met a single Muslim. Even more astonishing were the misconceptions and prejudices I discovered I'd unconsciously developed through the limited, often sensationalist stories of Muslims and the Islamic faith that I'd been exposed to. This podcast is where we say, "G'day Habibti" – a term of endearment meaning, Hello my love [feminine] – to women from the Arab world, and expats who live and work here. Each week a guest speaker will unpack their stories and experiences of culture, faith, and life here in the MENA region. Real conversations, with real people: talking Muslims, myths and misconceptions with me, Brooke, an Aussie girl living in the Middle East. * It's important to note here – these conversations are not meant to dilute or disenfranchise the voices of real struggle and oppression felt by millions of women around the globe, Australia being no exception, but to shed new light, a positive light, on an old, often negative narrative.
