The brothers of the legendary class of ‘94 came together 29 years after meeting in August 1990 to start a podcast. Insightful, thoughtful, funny and always on point about what's going in the world today. This is the origin our brotherhood. We're nine (9) brothers who met August 1990 in Hubert Hall at Morehouse College and became lifelong friends. HuuuuuRhoooo!!!! Shout out to Thurman Hall (JCrump & Chuck D- our honorary HuRho brothers). Fate or sheer blind luck assigned us (minus Crump and Chuck D) all to rooms on the first floor. Though we weren’t the only residents on the floor or all in adjacent rooms, a unique bond was formed amongst us. We were a medley of guys from New York, Memphis, Maryland, D.C., Mississippi, Dallas, and Oakland. For most of us, it was the first time meeting and befriending brothers who were hundreds (if not thousands) of miles from our hometown. At first, we joked about our differences in musical tastes, slang, clothes, and geographical accents that resulted in late night debates. Through the constant joking, general disregard for our RA and pranks against other dorms we formed friendships unbeknownst to us that would last decades and morph into a true brotherhood. We have been there for each other years later for marriages, children born, death of parents, encouraging each other to “keep pushing” and be the best in our professions, and everything else that life eventually tosses in our path. Just as we all convened in Hubert Hall 30 years ago from varying geographies, since graduating, we have dispersed to new and old locations. Despite that, we have remained in touch maintaining the brotherhood. In the last year, we finally took advantage of technology and started a group text so that we could all communicate at once. From that, an idea formed to create a podcast to capture a bit of 1990 again but as men, husbands, fathers, and successful career men. From those past and present experiences, Da House ’94 Podcast was born. We hope that you enjoy our camaraderie, insights born from our experiences (personal and professional), and topics that we will be discussing. -
